that stuff was so dystopian at first too
those firms that would just watch kids all day through their webcams
Well Gent, a good bellweather is whenever I get V&
I'll be your canary
there's kinda of a good thing from those zoom schools, typically ignorant parents learning the bullshit their kids are learning
I've heard that too, I wonder if more parents will start homeschooling
or as we call it in Virginia for some reason "podding"
whale pods, but lol I guess that works too
maybe? if they have time, most just go "oh we'll just switch to private schooling" but that's just as compromised
for some reason there's a stigma against "homeschooling" as a term, since people think it's not as good as a """"real"""" teacher
so around her something like 10-20% of parents started forming pods, and hiring private teachers for their kids
pods of ~5 kids usually
I get the socialization argument to that kinda
homeschooling is just straight up better
I'd see it as how many people have the time for it
K-8 at home, 9-12 at a public school
also the state hates home schooling
it takes money away from them
vax goes on our immunisation record here
not sure if anyone other than your doctor can see it though
but what if you get it at a non-hospital?
like, in America the vaccine is EVERYWHERE
and most places can't just access you medical records willy nilly
I can get it at CVS or the ABC store if I really wanted
I don't know about the rest of canada
all the spots that it is offered are pharmacies. I got mine at the UWaterloo pharmacy school
they have stations set up to put it on your record
(they ask if its okay to do so first though)
I wonder once you're further along, what it'll look like
further along how?
because for us, the aim of vaccinating everyone, means the vaccine has to be everywhere
and have zero friction in getting it
we are at 68% of the total pop, 78% of eligible pop
lmao
your fucking country man
We have states at ~30%, which have maxxed out
if it gets approved for under 12s, total pop would shoot up to near 90
I'd assume
it's so weird, how different we are
We also still are in lockdown btw
technically
the American number is inflated too
not a full lockdown, but things are not open
since people all just say yes
when asked if they're vaxxed
everyone still wears masks here
including fully vaxed people
and that will likely continue into september if not longer
I just went to a bar, where they squirt shots in your mouth with a gun
the US really does have a "fuck you do not tell me what to do" attitude
which is fine
yeah we do, I just don't get why you'd want to stay "locked down"
No one wanted to be locked down in the first place
then why does everyone stay home?
(after the first couple months of Corona being spooky)
I think the mentality here is, most people are willing to put up with it if it makes things better in the long run
thats more of the canadian way
that feels like that experiment they do on kids
we do have a subset of people are are anti mask and do anti lockdown protests
with the 1-2-marshmallow
but thats an extreme minority
like, I don't understand what someone has to gain by staying home
"oh boy, if I don't go out today and have fun, I can go out in 8 months and have fun"
we were at like, 1500 daily cases a month back, which was higher than when we locked down initially
like, it's not even traditional delayed gratification
you get NOTHING by waiting
we are now at 170
You gain not being a detriment to society (not that I believe that, just thats kind of the mentality)
