good job Europe
I feel like the whole cookie thing very obviously failed
they wanted to cut down on tracking, but instead all they got was a pop-up telling you you're being tracked
go back to the drawing board on that one

Petition: Do not introduce Digital ID cards
We demand that the UK Government immediately commits to not introducing a digital ID cards. There are reports that this is being looked at.
petition.parliament.ukI saw this news, and still don't really understand what they are talking about
I looked into it briefly, the official story is that digital IDs will stop the boat people
But it seems completely undefined wtf they're actually intending to do

Replying to Spooky Phijkchu #spooky.131 But it seems completely undefined wtf they're actually intending to do
Track people who post things, go to protests, or disagree with governance.
yeah but what is a "digital ID"
also weird that I just happened to wake up and check discord right as you said that
I'm pretty anti-ID, I just don't see what possible mechanism they'd even have to add ID checks everywhere
it being digital or physical barely makes a difference
they already collect biometrics in the UK
UK has zero privacy whatsoever, they already have huge country-wide networks of cameras
they already do all that
the UK is a dystopian shithole
I just don't see where the ID being digital materially changes anything, the British have put up with government overreach and given away whatever limited rights they had decades ago
they're already being tracked and audited
and they all know it
Yes, but this is simply more thorough is what I am saying. Tying it to digital means means you can not not have a tracking device on at all times. At least you could go for a walk without ID. All this stuff is made to be automated eventually so you just get auto flagged without needing to tag a face or body character with cameras
yep, would suck to be British

there actually is a lot of furniture made domestically
my issue is, there's been an absolutely degenerate race to the bottom in terms of quality
and pricing is disconnected completely from that quality
