This comes right after a leaked audio tape of the alberta premier talking about how she was trying to get Trump to hold off on the tarrifs until the election because Pollivier would play ball with him and the Tarrifs were hurting his chances of winning. True or not (Pollivier capitulating to Trump), this is going to have damaging effects on his reputation, so I imagine this was the push Libs were waiting for to maximize their chance at winning
