it's the first time I think I've ever seen something so stark
politics

the main subs are mostly bots, but even the smaller tech subs are bizarre now
and they've banned 80-90% of smaller reddits in the last year, due to moderation changes
where you are required to have an active global mod if you have over 50k subs
and must have a daily active mod team even at 50k and under
on actual politics though, is Canada retarded
they're larping like they're going to go full trade war
which would actually just cripple them
I get a lot of it is pandering to sounding tough and all
but still
Replying to Spooky Phijkchu #spooky.131 which would actually just cripple them
Is this not just Trudeau/Canadians being spiteful? I know a new PM is being elected at the end of the month.
wait its the end of this month?
I thought it was in October
I thought it was stupid they kept talking about polls if they hadn't even called the election date yet
Every country is different and all, but I think the way the UK and Canada do their elections are normally pretty nice
Canada has been a bit corrupted by America, with the never-ending politics shit
the whole system when you call an election, people campaign for 30-45 days or w/e
and then there's a vote
imo is a much better system than the YEARS AND YEARS of campaigning and politicking we get in the US
it can be called whenever
it must be no later than october 25th 2025
is it going to be called before the Fall Pika?
It will be called whenever the liberals think it is the most benificial to them
trump has been boosting them in the polls
so it is likely they will call it if they ever get above 50% likelyhood of winning
the pre-election polls don't matter, they're not winning
it's a question of whether a few more seats is worth ceding Trudeaus power early
They will call it when they think they can win the most possible seats
it is worth it, because in our system, the number of seats you have is way more important than it is in the US
if you want to control negotiations with Trump, I could see them delaying though, since they have power now
but in general, yeah I agree they'll call it when they think they're strongest
Honestly, they could call it right now and force the cons to have a minority government because of trump
instead of the strong majority they were probably going to get before
Pika, you don't actually think that they'd win I hope, lol
They are not going to win, but cons are quite likely not getting a majority government now
oh, I see what you mean
and will have to settle for a weaker minority government
If trump said nothing at all, did not threaten tarrifs etc, cons majority would have been a sure thing
now its up in the air, leaning towards a minority government
I know it's not happening, but you do realize if Trudeau goes full trade war he's retarded
I agree, but I do think we should diversify our trading more since the US is abjectly being dicks to us lmao
otherwise we are equally retarded
The main thing that should happen is, there is a lot of interprovincial trading issues that stop trades between provinces
if that is removed, the reliance on the US is lessended and Trump doing trump things is less of an impact
Due to differences in rules, regulations, etc
it's the same in the states Dialga tbf
doing business anywhere is fucking brutal, there are so many laws that don't need to exist
I think Canada's best move is to do minor retalitory tarrifs to the US, not enough to cripple us, and to move towards better economic policies
and rn at least, online commerce gets to avoid all of them, but they're trying to close that loophole
anytime you see a politician talk about regulating online commerce
it's code for fuck the economy over
so clearly, we need to buy Alberta and cut Canada in half
solid strategy
Alberta was the highest in favour of stuff like that, at I think 16%
I think you could get 30-35% in favor of it today, without changing anything
but as always, yes it's a meme
That poll was taken like a few months ago
>polls
I still think you vastly overestimate how many Canadians would be okay with just becoming the US
Replying to Phijkchu_Pikachu #klombak That poll was taken like a few months ago
just wait for the aggressive propaganda campaign
and I think you vastly underestimate it
Most countries like their sovereignty
ESPECIALLY the under 30 population
Canadians are angry about that too Rusp, policians would just rather be rich than Canadian
and again, it's a meme and serves to just destabilize Canada, it's not magically going to get you guys to fix your problems
