Luckily, if pipes freeze and burst in my apartment building, it is literally not my fault and they had bigger issues

Also I cannot cool my apartment because there is no cooling system
So my options are heating, and off, and I just choose off when I am gone
my dorm freshman year of college was like that
Fuck you Spooky, why is it no longer 1:30
I guess I am not watching anime
ok Pika, last plug question
if you had a drink cooler or second fridge
would you leave that plugged in
main frige, obvious yes
but this one is just for drinks or non-perishables
I unplugged the minifridge I had next to my desk in kitchener when I left for kingston, but that is less fair because I was leaving for a majority of the time
for you, ig it's lemonade and root beer
If it was full, I'd not unplug it. If it was basically empty, yes I probably would
and just move anything left to the main fridge
you know, I didn't consider consolidating the contents
you win this round
idk Pika, I forget if I mentioned this in the server or not
I do not even fill my main fridge in Kingston, so I would feel so stupid buying a mini fridge
but before I moved out, we had 11 fridges in my parents house
Spooky, I knew about the multiple freezers and how much meat went bad because of it
11 fridges is hilarious and stupid
You are the polar opposite of me in a lot of ways. I do not like wasting things, even if wasting it is inconsequential
I got that great depression era grindset in my heart
I live in an area where there is a central toll road (Max can back me up on this decsion btw)
and to get anywhere, taking this toll road saves 10-20 minutes
never more than that, but never less
literally anywhere you want to go
You live in a hellscape beyond my imagination
it costs more than it should, but I decided long ago my time was worth more, and I never make the decsion whether to take it or not
Time is something balanced in the weighing of wasting things though to be fair
I take it every day, multiple times a day, and never weigh the pros and cons
so I do not disagree
I try to reduce the number of value decisions I have to make,
so I just determined what the yearly "toll" budget was roughly
Meanwhile, I optimally planned my eating for the week before I left and consumed literally every perishable thing, so nothing will go bad
same for water, electricity, gas or w/e
me hyper conserving will save me at most 10% on that bill
and will involve 100,000 micro decisions about how to save a cent or less
and I just don't want to think about it
food I'm pretty stringent on, I like trying stuff, but I'm fairly price sensitive
and don't buy stuff that's stupid
food waste I'd like to be better on, but most of what I waste is produce or hyper-perishable stuff like milk
which feels kind of inevitable
when you buy a box of strawberries or w.e
Milk is crazy
I have never had milk go bad because I drink it all before it goes bad
I mostly mean milk to cook with
drinking milk, yeah I'll just drink that
like, I threw out some buttermilk and whole milk this week,
and sour cream
that I used 75%+ of
but I'm not going to just chow down on sour cream, to avoid wasting it
I typically just don't but shit if I am not pretty sure I will use all of it
I'm trying to think of anything else that fits there
honestly, sour cream or cream cheese are like #1 and #2
of things I don't think I ever fully finish off
before they go bad
You should see if your groundhogs will eat it
salad dressing
oil/vinegar lasts forever
but god forbid you have a thing of caesar dressing
that will never get fully used
Gent funilly enough, I think the fact I buy the non-seed oil version
means it's 10x as perishable
idk, I think I'm more concerned about "wasteful spending" when it comes to food
versus 5-10% of it going bad before I can use it
I was arguing with you specifically about peanut oil
which is not the same as vegitable oil, in terms of how bad it is for you
Only oil I use for cooking is olive oil
that was the argument
I remember that post from spooky lmao
