I forgive him
lol, Polu having to put pronouns in his bio
would be so funny
also, unless Discord is going to pay Polu in lucrative stock options, no way it's worth it
I would bet on Discord getting acquired though
so if his shares vested in <2 years
probably worth
No, Discord is not a good social platform
it's a good complement if you already own a different platform
Unrelated
but Cyber trucks failing hard in Canada because they are not built for the cold has been funny as shit
I did, but that was a week ago
I even mentioned it in anime chat
lol, I've seen some memes about that Pika
have you seen any on the roadside near you?
I have seen 1
when you're driving home to school
not roadside
there are almost zero in Canada
my mom and sister we amused because they saw one today
which I why I thought of it
Normal tesla's, also rare but you can see them every now and then, cyber trucks are just not here
there are tons around me here, and around Max in Richmond
what I don't think people will like is how fucked up their exteriors will get after Winter
we use this really abrasive road salt, and after the first year in VA, all new cars look like shit
I am sure they work fine in California
but you really need to actually make things that work in the area you are selling them
cars normally work better in the cold than in the heat
my guess is electric cars have a slightly higher operating floor due to battery drain while idle
but I think keeping them plugged in (like a normal, non-woman would) should alleviate that
Pika, idk what it is
but all the girls I know who own electric cars
don't keep them plugged in
as if they think they're going to explode
I do not know anyone who owns an electric car
so I cannot contribute to that analysis
oh no, Dialga is a woman
if you have a raw Li-ion cell, then yes continuing to have it recieve charge is bad for it (sorta) it's complicated
So, there is a lot of complex things for batteries. I am kind of more equiped for this discussion than normal, because one of the people doing their PhD under my masters supervisor was doing control theory for batteries
but in a phone, there is a voltage regulator and 10 other things that will stop the raw cells from receiving charge when full
How you charge a battery affects its lifespan a lot too
so do you ful throttle the charge, or do you do full blast, then 30% blast, then 50% blast, etc
there is a lot of fine tuning for optimizing charge time versus lifespan
most modern things like cars/phone have reserve cells, so the complex structure of the overall battery only ever drains/charges between 10% and 90%
and then yeah, good chargers draw in a cycle
Active research is currently how to optimally charge a battery without full information about the internal state of the battery
so its not a settled science in any way
and there's unavoidable degredation over time, so things like cars also have much more capacity than they advertise
and we'll probably not use Li-ion forever (hopefully)
so we'll have to relearn all that science too Pika
your PHD friend has a job forever
double value job, since it was machine learning based lol
but yeah, I think battery stuff is interesting
but yeah, I mean it when I say
100% of girls
don't keep their shit plugged in
The coolest part of my masters was now I know a strangely abnormal amount of math behind battery charging and mosquito population control
and come to think of it, I feel like boomers also keep random appliances unplugged when they leave the house
or don't leave the house when the oven/stove is on or w/e
I unplug everything when I leave for 2-3 weeks
I also am stingy and do not want my microwave clock to waste 2 cents
Pika, I'm not going to make fun of you
what do you leave plugged in?
Its less unplugging and more I just hit the switch on my power bar
I need to know how much you and my grandmother overlapped
