In America, colleges make their money from foreign students, so there are a lot of them but there are so many colleges, and the big ones have in-state quotas too. There's also the pressure that you will get deported if you overstay your visa (or fail 2 classes) and once its over, it's not much easier to parlay that student visa into a permanant one

I can't imagine Canada, with 10-15 total universities, dealing with that many foreigners

I feel like Canada's demographic problems are going to become a big issue

The real kicker for Canadian immigration from india is, Canada does not recognize many high skill degrees from outside of Canada (mainly medical stuff), so a lot of higher skilled people cannot come here and do the job they were doing elsewhere

so it is almost entirely low quility immigration

we used to have a very good point based system, but I think after Harper that was scrapped

so the quality of immigration is very low now

There's no reason to really need immigrants rn

I genuinely think the best citizenship/patriation system, is direct purchase

I think there is always a benifit to stealing high skill (PhDs, etc) people

if you want to go live in a county, just buy your citizenship
