Other Eastern RPGs do so much more, that it's surprising FE is still so old school
I feel like you can do a good SRPG story without having to re-invent the systems
maybe asking for good story and good characters together is a little more rare, but it's not beyond them
It's not on PC, Vanillaware is teasing they might finally port it
I'd like a good SRPG story, if FE wants to be basic, fine, but they put so much effort into all the non-gameplay stuff and it's only ever "decent"
Replying to taxes #tzfi I think Mauvier and Zephia are interesting despite everything the issue is mostly the fact it's important character+two retainers slop
Also, I didn't respond to this, but I really hate the retainer thing. I pretty much never end up caring about the retainers. They're usually non-characters compared to their lord.
Excluding retainers, FE1/Shadow Dragon had two recruitment reasons
"oh you saved my sister/civilian when you visited a random town, I will now join you" and
"Oh hey, my boss joined you, I guess I should too"
