The Lets Go games have to be mainline since there is no colon in their names. It's the Legends games which are spinoffs. edit: because of colon.

Let's Go, while having different catching mechanics, still follows the exact same formula of a mainline Pokemon game. The Legends games have entirely different formulas, combat mechanics, and catching mechanics.

I actually think the catching mechanic wasn't as bad as I was expecting. It's much faster than other games, so you can catch lots of pokemon quickly.
