it's Japan, so we'll never get this

but I'm genuinely curious about this game, how it came to exist, what the design principles were
imo, the core systems of the world feel like they were from a long list of things that were concepts for botw
and just never made it in because they wanted to keep botw more simple
I'm genuinely impressed by the direction of totk
probably accurate. As far as how I know how Nintendo works, a lot of their games come from scraped ideas from older games that they either did not have enough time to do, or they physically could not get it to work with the hardware at the time
I think seeing the Nintendo ideas vault would be interesting
I watched a ton of interviews back in the day about botw, what the dev cycle was like
how long they spent building a prototype module, to nail down the game systems
agreed
I am sure BotW was more them testing the waters too though
they probably did not want to go to deep. Same feel I got for kirby
I think every one of the core abilities or systems here that is "new" was probably prototyped for botw
and cut to keep it streamlined
totk is VERY different from what I was expecting ngl
yeah
idk if the DLC team thing in true
but this should not have taken them this long
though I feel that way about all of Nintendo's stuff
I feel like part of it was they wanted to wait for the new switch, but they all the chip shortages delayed them doing that, so them taking this long did not pay off
not that I've played the game yet, still in the intro cinematics
Max posted that we're still a year+ away from the Switch 2
and I 100% believe it
but wtf is Nintendo doing
I like how they metroid primed link to remove all his hearts and stamina and master sword to justify why he did not have them
well Pika, enjoy the great plateau v2
Pika don't click this
Max, I'm sure it's more explicit later on, but I like that totk is not connected to botw like I assumed it would be (not a direct sequel I mean)
What the fuck I can't believe rex impregnated all three girls why did you spoil that spooky
I'm sure people will debate that point, but I really wasn't expecting it, idk why
Replying to Spooky Phijkchu #spooky.131 Max, I'm sure it's more explicit later on, but I like that totk is not connected to botw like I assumed it would be (not a direct sequel I mean)
uh
I was going back and forth for a while, if you were supposed to accept the world differences or not
but I REALLY like that it's the normal zelda timeline formula, of common names/places, but a different era
yeah
I feel like there will be some good lore to find in totk (not that I'm that far into it either)
I'm at 30-ish shrines
Sunday, May 14, 2023
Part of it's the brainrot of playing "efficiently" and not to have fun
the shrines with the car/tanks in them, I spent forever just fucking around with death traps
but I could see people trying to min/max hating those
the puzzle shrines in are definitely a step up from botw, but a lot of them are "figure out what this contraption does" more than an actual puzzle
though, imo the puzzles near the start were way better than the later game ones
before they just throw a million different parts at you
have you beaten everything now Max?
You can also easily beat most shrines in a non intended way using a simple time reversal on a falling block. This game more so that BotW is very open ended in how you engage with the content and what tools you can use

i beat all shrines launch day

yeah you can solve a lot of puzzles by lifting a block up and away from you
oh lol, that's funny
I've not tried that
gliding feels unaccounted for in a lot of places, which is weird for a game ABOUT THE SKY
My favourite "ignore the puzzle" thing you can do is, you can walk on essentially all the rails
and just ignore several puzzles

you can shield grind on them
