I mean glasses were around back in 300BC
no idea if medieval European nobles had them or not though
they'd remove one eye, and give you a monocle

I'm still trying to think about the logistics of medieval glassmaking

I'm actually imagining they might have just cut and polished gems

so towns would have things like glass or super strong metal tools, that they didn't know how to make more of
