I wish the Discord text editor was faster with live-updating, there's a multi-second delay before it loads the spellcheck, which means often I will send before it shows me whatever horrible misspelling I made
but if I load the msg editor, it's instant
thank God it's not just me Kribbles
with how scuffed my setup is sometimes
I just assume I'm the only person on Earth with some of these
I need a timecard
clearly
My actual computer plan for a while has been to wait for the next consumer chipsets, and go all-in on a big refresh of my setup
and it sucks that it looks like that won't be until 2028 now
I used to use the old jetsons at work all the time
these are just cash grab versions of those
for the price I think they're not good, at least when I last looked at them
but I also don't really work on embeded AI systems at the edge
So, and I don't understand this enough to explain it
Ai workloads fall into two groupings (training and inference) and only inferencing is actually good on the unified memory systems
partially because they were designed around GPUs, those are the only things that are good at both
Nvidia is smart to cash in and release high-bandwidth unified devices
uh, I don't think so Leg, they're just prosumer/lab repackaging of their special enterprise chips
Kribbles said it better
I'm not trying to shit on the little AiO AI boxes either, I think they're cool
I'd just rather have 2-3 good GPUs in a compute box I can use over the network
similar issue I have with AI laptops, you're better served having "close enough" local AI than specifically on-device AI
yeah, that's def the usecase
When AI figures out how to SAO me, then we can talk
Replying to legorhin #jazardly you're better served not having any AI
idk if you have an answer to this, but do you see AI worming it's way into the mainstream as much in Japan
since it's definitely hit that point in the US
Replying to Spooky Phijkchu #spooky.131 My actual computer plan for a while has been to wait for the next consumer chipsets, and go all-in on a big refresh of my setup and it sucks that it looks like that won't be until 2028 now
not for me
cries in AM4
yep, at this point it was a mistake to skip AM5, esp since I doubt consumer AM6 will be that great
>AMD is calling Zen 6 (AM5) Morbius
yeah, I can't upgrade to that

Visa plugs its payment network into ChatGPT, letting AI agents shop...
Visa is embedding its payment network into ChatGPT, allowing the chatbot to shop and complete transactions for users.
apnews.comno you're not
nice try
Anthropic larped so hard about how great their new AI version is, that the US banned it
their whole marketing angle for Claude is genuinely cringe
they've spent the last month+ trying to get it banned
they did everything in their power to do it
it's a play to pump their stock
writing DAILY blog posts about how as soon as they release it the endtimes will happen
and they keep edging, warning that "any day now" they'll release the actual model
but in the meantime they'll release one only 90% as strong to give humanity a chance
I hate being anti-Anthropic, but their CEO, their entire company, and all their weird cult of Claude people
can be fired into the sun

Seeing normal Americans/Canadians interacting with a European like Fire was cool in-person
and the World cup is that x1000
