why have the modified cinny client? whats different from tbe regular one?
1, I host it
2, I don't like how default Cinny restricts surfacing other servers
and I only picked Cinny because it allows for the rigid channel structure (which we like)

If spooky is keeping this up, this is my new "discord is dead" emergency contact service since he took the time to set it up
Matrix was always our backup if discord permantly went to shit in an unusable way, I am a fan of it, despite them trying their hardest to ruin the core product
Other than the encrpytion, Spooky's official phijkchu matrix is setup, and free to use (as a backup, I guess you can use it as an exclusive chat if you so wish)
There was a mass banwave though recently according to spooky, and having this set up is good because it still is the official fallback if discord goes to shit
a bunch of servers moved to Stoat, the rest moved to matrix

Element is standard one, FluffyChat is decent but kinda a mess, Syphon/Tensor are in-dev right now

and I was going to do things a little differently anyway, since we don't really need 16 channels

I did a one-time reset of everything, so if you registered on the Cinny instance, you will have to make new accounts (sorry)
If you used an existing Matrix, Element.io, or FluffyChat account, you can just leave the old server and add:
#Phijkchu:mx.phijkchu.com
I migrated the whole server to a new backend that is a lot faster and supports the perm stuff I wanted to do, but trying to surgically copy user data and passwords/keys over wasn't going to work without breaking everything. Also setup E2E Encryption in a way that's not incredibly annoying and doesn't break message history
Well it's mostly working, I'll fix the last perm issue in the morning

since Vetting and the VCs work perfectly
