It's a Big Dumb Rocket™
uses non-solid fuel (gasoline/kerosene) and just moves really slow
trivial to build, but no one does it because unironically it's seen as "embarrassing"
it's much less attractive payload wise, but yes
^ as well as it's slow, and usually they're not vertical takeoff
the official Cold War reason was because you couldn't use the designs for ICBMs or other military use
but genuinely, it's because when comparing to other rocket launches, nobody wanted to be the country with this oversized and slow LV
