before the trend was saying "learning all this stuff is pointless, I can just have AI write everything", you already had these people saying "learning all this stuff is pointless, I'm just going to write basic high level python once I graduate"

AI is super useful, but for a lot of things, it also just reveals "this was busywork to begin with" for actual coursework, you're just cheating yourself out of learning to a point, but that's if the course isn't bloated at all
Kribbles general
I don't really know about "busy work" because it still gets you to learn through repetition. It's like learning vocabulary in Spanish is "busy work" but it's.. you just gotta memorize
reorruatrnte general
yeah that is the problem. you'll have kids saying things like basic programming assignments are busy-work, because they can already find the solutions online

Granted, when I found my professor's website had all the exams beforehand in a "hidden" folder, you bet your ass I studied those. So I'm not morally superior lol

anyway rather than not knowing how to do anything without AI the bigger problem I see is people not being able to do anything on their own computer without a toy assignment setup

I think in 5-10 years we get a massive crunch on universities were all schools either spec into useless degree mills, or only take far fewer students to maintain rigour

In my ML class, I was supposed to implement ResNet50 from scratch but I missed the "from scratch" and I just imported it directly in 2 lines, submitted it... and got a 10% on that assignment. lmao

oh, @Raccoons you might appreciate this too the greatest skater in the world rn Ilia Malinin is from a couple streets over from where I grew up in Reston, and he practices at the Reston SkateQuest (and goes to GMU, hence the statue)

He was there with a fully paid grad school, but his professor was.. interesting lol. Dude straight from China, would ask him to clean his house on the weekends, built a Gazebo in his backyard (not the girl PhD students because girls aren't made for physical labor), and when he had surgery on his ass, he asked my buddy to live at his house so he could change his bandages after the surgery. So, he got fired lol.

It's important for accurate polling data that as many answers are collected as possible, but due to the sensitive nature of the poll i imagined that there may be some who wish to abstain
