I don't really know what AppleCare is, but I think something that is required like, renter's or car insurance doesn't count as a subscription. (edited)

I don't own Apple stuff, but it's a weird hybrid warranty thing mostly, you pay monthly and if your shit breaks they give you a new one

interesting, I haven't rented since college and I know more places are starting to add more red tape renters insurance was 100% optional then, though I think some buildings sorta prefered it to filter out the poor
