Sorta politics, but sorta just interesting
apparently we all own Intel stock now
we've nationalized 10% of Intel.... for some reason
1.3 shares/person
The actual reason is because they took an $11B loan from the government (CHIPS ACT) and decided to quit 50% of the way into building it, and this was a surprise move by Trump to quite literally force them to pay it back

so are we NOT building our own chip manufacturing?
It is the thing that prevents china from nuking the worlds technology construction industry by taking tiwan
Not having your own chip manufacturing plants is literally just letting china fuck the world on a whim
no we are Dialga, TSMC built theirs in Arizona
Intel also wanted in on it, got 50% of the way through building two of them, spent billions, and then the new CEO just decided randomly to stop a couple weeks ago
like, construction was ongoing, huge construction teams building literal megastructures
and all just got a call to stop and go home
this is the one in New Mexico
I think the other one was in the Midwest
Ohio
Here's footage of the Ohio construction they started in 2022
$28B spent so far
and they've "paused" it
likely trying to sell it and walk away
no one knows
I really mean that
because it makes no sense
their profits are down 90% btw
they are deeply fucked
there's no saving intel at this point
yes, true
it was in fact, their only options at this point
and them stopping is just completely retarded
(also FYI, don't short Intel if the US goverment is buying shares)
oh, I might not have said this earlier
it's a new CEO
now, that's probably just blame shifting tbh
but it's kinda crazy to see Intel die in real-time

what if Phijkchu at the Ohio megastructure ruins

So it is because they mandated very high levels of diversity hiring from the foreign tech companies to help. Lots of the cosntruction has had borderline untrainable people/low skilled workers on the projects. Also a shit load of the moneg ahs been skimmed off the top down the chain on these projects. None of this either gets into the state and local districting & permitting level. It takes about 5 years for most factories to be built and permitted. Longer for production at meaningful scales. If you think this is crazy just looking into mining as an example it takes 15-20 years for a similar process. Oil refining is even more rediculous as no new refineries have come online since the 1970s.
Also the government has been taking backdoor stakes into intel slowly and effectively nationalizing it
But this whole process has gotten so bad to where almost all the build crews, engineers, ect have to be importes and permitted fully before work cam be done because the lack of broad domestic expertise and the federal government mandates with the money being so heavily focused on ways to skim the money and push it into "diversity" mandates
Saying corruption and grift is half the story, and yeah construction/infrastructure is especially hard-hit (on-top of regulatory BS)
I meant more that I don't think there is a public "official" reason being given at all

Oh yeah absolutely not.
I have no love for Intel, and on the tech side they've fallen way behind cutting edge wafer production for years anyway
but it's alarming to see them just walk away
even if everyone sorta knew the project was behind schedule and fucked from every which direction
canceling it feeds that creeping dread that a larger systems collapse is coming
hey, nice, same conclusion lol
I'm not a doomer about the long-term outlook, because I think the foundation is there to fix things fairly rapidly
but it is kind of crazy the lengths we're going to delay delay delay
but I will be out there on the National mall day 1 with the ropes and guillotine, in my finest Roamin the Paladin shirt

You knoe where I can get one now a days? I missed the window for that one tee shirt at the time lol
>missed the window by 15 years
Rob has extras, if you really want one unirronically if you meta rp with him you can probably get one
but I go back to, people should probably just leave Rob alone
ok apparently that picture might just be lost to time
