^ China has some things figured out
1 timezone for everyone
Luddic I am fine with that if it is one of two timezones
what timezone do you want
I vote for native time
AZ has the coolest timezone map
That is the wrong timezone, the correct answer was est because that is no change for me, or newfoundland time
- 😂 1
for those who don't know
we have a sub-state
that in some ways, is an "independent country"
similar to how Canada is
UTC/GMT/Zulu are all bad
I hate the Boston is pushing to move off EST, and join Maine and Nova Scotia on Atlantic Time
Replying to Kribbles #kribbles1 I remember hearing that Michigan is in eastern time because they wanted to keep it on the same timezone as NYC to keep a constant time for shipping across the great lakes. And so it was a massive jump from living in the UP to Rhode Island and the sky gets light at like 4:30am here
yeah i live in the next county over
Can we do daylight savings but worse. Instead of 1 change, every month you get a marginal 10 minute change
I think we should vote yearly, which time zone we align with locally
±1 in each direction from the prior year
follow a sineusoid or something so it goes back and forth
Ontario agreed to do it if New york and Quebec did
I forget which blew it for me, I think New york
This was like 10 years ago or something
we've passed an anti-daylight savings bill twice now
I suspect it'll get ratified this time
I don't hate DST, because I think it achieves what it sets out to do
Okay but what if israel says it is actually a good thing first
will it pass then
but I get why people hate it
It fucks me up for a day every year because I always forget despite knowing it is that day the day prior
but then it does not matter
I think people normalize to sunrise/sunset more than they care to admit
I normalize to when I go to sleep + 7-8 hours
did I go to sleep at 4am, well hell I am waking up at noon
and that even if we get rid of DST, there will be some societal drift each way (which there is already since DST is not granular)
I am going to bed now so I can wake up at 6
Replying to Spooky Phijkchu #spooky.131 I think people normalize to sunrise/sunset more than they care to admit
im telking ya, that and a combination of some UTC thing
It does make a difference here, because it is pitch black at 6am and then it shifts and it is no longer pitch black then
but that only affects me seldomly
