Kingston is very expensive, and base line funding is 20k/year or something
idk, I get 33k because I would not go to a school that did not offer a proper funding package to me
I know universities are never going to give partial tuition refunds for impacted education
but I think they should be forced to
here you go max, this is probably the best I can do for "other than reddit"
only update I have gotten from queens
even if you love your school, when you lose a semester to admin politics or other bullshit
Most people, on average, just want to get their degree Dialga
even if you get money back from it, you are wasting time
Replying to Dialga #god_of_time wouldnt that just make people more disruptive so they can scam money out of the university spooky
less about the individual instance today, and more generally about the entire semester
I know plenty of people, who had that happen, and essentially had to ask "is it worth even continuing this semester or at this school at all" when you're looking at a bunch of admin changes or never-ending strikes
which is bad enough on its own, nevermind when you're also paying thousands of dollars for that
This term is for sure a wash, the class I am TAing for only got 1/4 assignments marked, and exam marking is going to be a mess
my undergrad didn't have one while I was there, but then covid happened right after, and since then I feel like I've not heard from anyone who has had a full 4-5 year college experience without losing at least 1-2 semesters, sometimes more
This one at queens is particularly bad because it is for sure not ending this term and going into the summer
most of them are 4-6 weeks
Queens does not run many summer classes, but I suspect they may just cancel the few they usually run
or heavily restructure them if not
I think it really stresses people out, you pick this school, you put a lot of yourself into it, into your coursework and your classes
the school becomes part of your identity while you're there
and then you hit a snag where they institution itself fucks you over, and you just have to take it
Yeah for sure
It's partially why I hate academic administrations, pretty much across the board
Agreed
gl Pika lol
Does not affect me!
they are protesting out from of the buildings the majority of students use, they have not come far enough down the main road of campus to get to the singular math building
yeah, I assume it's not going to drag out into the fall
Oh you meant in general
yeah
if it drags into the fall, I legitimately will have to talk to my supervisor about just not doing classes in the fall, moving back to Kitchener and working from home lol
I can take the hit for the month and half this has been, I will not be able to afford rent past that
Pikachu homeless arc
let's go
I lose about 1.2k each month that there is a strike
Unless I go out to picket, but I hate all the people organising picketing
and I am not going to sit and be a payed reddit shill, although that is funny
I could do it for free
although I do not strongly believe in the strike nor really care because honestly, I do not think I benifit from this even if they get a good deal.
wait Pika
this is real
lmao
Except if they manage to talk the university into lowering grad tuition after we are done taking classes
April 2 Member Survey
A union is made up of its members. Nearly 4 weeks into the strike, we are seeking to gain clarity on where our members stand. The following survey will ask you about your well-being, your feelings about the strike, and your suggestions for next steps. Thank you for filling out this survey and letting your voice be heard.
docs.google.comthey sent out a survey
yeah, I was not joking Spooky
about whether to fuck over undergrads or not
Apparently most people said no
did you vote?
and no, I didn't know this was a thing because they have not been emailing me, and I blocked their number because they would fucking text me 5 times a day
if they emailed me updates, whatever, I gave them my email
they insist on fucking texting
over and over
So I just go by vague word of mouth as to whats happening
because I am not putting up with being spammed with texts when I know the answer is "Queens has not responded to us"
I am not one of the cattle getting the minimum funding
so this strike likely only benifited me by letting me skip 90% of my work for only loosing 25% of my term pay
Both Polu and Rusp can't earn anymore points
so I think it's between Polu and Regi for 1st, depending on the final game tonight
And I'm playing for honor, because I think I can slip ahead of Pika possibly, and take the coveted #7 spot
I have no idea, and couldn't find it anywhere
I guess I assumed all games weren't worth the same, but maybe they are and you've already won
and then it's Regi and Rusp competing for RedditSilverr

is this football betting?
