If you can entertain me a little more though, how much of the game gets sent to Valve/Steam to actually be reviewed? There was already a couple things that annoying said within the first hour of the game that would have had me clutching my pearls if I was a couple notches more sensitive
Sean general
how much of that stuff is actually allowed before you get banned (idk what the better word here is, sent for re-review? barred from sending it in?), was that something you guys thought about deliberately
Garbage general
We have no idea, or at least I don't. I'll answer this personally, and not as a Dev for this part, but I think steam takes a laissez-faire approach unless it touches on a big societal no no, (outright racism seems fine, but encouraging or inciting for genocide would be a no likely) or stuff involving minors or lack of consent. I don't think this game reaches any of that level, but we did at least consider what the public would think for some material, but usually decided to go with what we thought Gent would do. Steam has historically struck down on things like Rance, also one big Japanese publisher had a game I can't remember but it got removed involving an underaged character.

"max-core" from what little I know of that person sounds scary
I'm like a more evil version of that one evil cool person you're thinking of
Sean general
it's a strange web, I was part of a steam curator group that would like send out emails to devs and stuff to get free games a long time ago

but in this whole thing, you get familiar with a lot of weird shit
Sean general
there are some real curators I think that would actually really fuck with your game but really idk how much that whole system is even worth
Sean general
it was very funny to imagine, when me and my group were younger, that we were wasting some old guys time at his actual job by trolling him with lowballs for trades for like basically stolen keys
Garbage general
I am certain that most publishers now on steam just by the developer enough copies for all the steam algorithm checkmarks, and then puts the dev in a situation where the game will have to make X back before the devs will be paid

It's actually pretty important to an extent but steam key copies are nuked algorithmically for reviews
yeah this is kinda fucked up but it has to be this way otherwise you can just give a billion keys to guys in a giveaway and ask them to leave a positive review or whatever
Sean general
Actually that's a lie, I quit the steam curator thing because I felt bad about how we would lie to like the most obviously shitty games that we'd give them a chance
Garbage general
But yeah, while it is very arbitrary and chokes out some real games, the new and trending at least mostly only shows real games and obviously boosted porn games (but if you are buying those it is exactly what it says on the tin)

So it kinda sucks for devs, but it is probably better for the average buyers experience
well you'll always have little freaks like me who look at every game
Garbage general
Naku Kinoko looks like super obvious boosting as well, but maybe I am underestimating the market for vampire surviors that you goon to as a genre
Sean general
I had no idea this whole thing was a pokemon thing until it was too late and I wanted to join but I'm kind of pokemon autistic
Garbage general
That part of it is mostly over, some of us still play the modern games sometimes, a few give a shit about comp, we are doing that one trading card game pocket in gacha chat from time to time. It's mostly become a clique though.
