put all VODs older than 30 days into a low-bandwidth mode
purge timeline thumbnails and reduce CDN presence to low-traffic nodes
like Max said, storage is the cheapest part
The only way I could see this making sense is if they want to down the line have a plan for streamers to pay for storage space or something
as retarded as that is
the most costly part for them is thumbnails appak
bandwidth costs are zero compared to HLS live, storage is nothing (especially since they autopurge VODs, and even then....)
