its not that they were generous with rates (rates were bad)
its that the unit release schedule was low enough that you could usually just save
and the people who would whale knew every unit coming up since the game was 3 years behind JP

They are not killing me in fact they work very well with no noticeable side effects, it is just they are not pills you should be on for any significant period of time
You can become dependent on them
