Async Archipelago

We are trying an async Archipelago multiworld this coming week. Please express your interest and what games you want to play in it. Anyone who doesn't want to commit to a full game but would like to participate in some way can try the hint games in the fourth tab of that google sheet. [HintMachine](https://github.com/HintMachine/hintMachine/tree/1.3.0-rc3) has many options.

Or I could actually do rabi-ribi since its async and no one will get cucked by me

I changed my mind about LEGO Star Wars, I'll do Minish Cap and Pokemon FRLG map randomizer

Can one of you guys help me test the archipelago set up? I have archipelago up and running, but I don't remember how to generate a yaml file.

is your game one of the officially supported ones?

by officially supported, he means "on the main website"

the core verified tab is the official ones

because that's an external one, you need to generate template files in the archipelago client and then manually edit the yaml for cave story that generates

Actually, I think I'd like to toss in an Emerald as well

I can beat Emerald very quickly if needed, just lets me do something if I get stuck in Dark Souls

(It’s actually significantly more likely I get stuck in Emerald over DS3, moreso I just want a second game)

Reminder that the version numbers need to match up for all the Yaml files

bob is 0.6.0, kribbles is 0.6.5, I don't think it matters for tiny, and I can't find the one leg posted to check

I think if they are all edited to just be 0.6.5 it should be fine (question mark)?

The old layout had issues and Archipelago as a whole could use some actual effort put in to make it approachable

but the new layout is worse in both respects, less usable and less approachable

I changed my mind against doing balatro lmao

4 different instals deep, I have decided this is not worth doing

I'm always amazed how some really crazy mods (like SC2) are so seamless, and other simple feeling ones require an hour+ of dependency managing and searching down obscure old uncompiled github code

Spooky, part of the problem is you need 2 different mod loader mods for balatro to do modding, its not even the AP guys fault

For some reason Factorio needs an additional mod, but this one is just to drag & drop, then restart factorio so it seems kinda fine enough for me. CaveStory was editing the binary and shit that I did not want to do.

Even if we are technically doing async, if some people are around later tonight and want to do a formal "start of the rando" vc for a bit, or to test things, I am availiable later

Would one of us start the archipelago server or how does the async get started?

Idk if you can self host or just use the website still for async games, I assume the website saves it for a while

I could run it on my home server if there needs to be a dedicated machine

I am 99% sure the website saves your thing unless there is zero activity from anyone for a week

A lot of the time, you can just change the number to work

the number they have in there can just indicate what AP version existed when they last updated the yaml

I realized I needed to download a bunch of apworld files for each of your guys' games

I got a world set up, but for synchronous play, I don't know how to configure for async play.

ok it looks like it's working. Fortunately my first check in Emerald was for DS3, so I was able to confirm between both games that it works haha
