I've heard two different conflicting reasons. One is they want to shut down the servers, and their DRM forces you to need to use the server to play singleplayer anyways

another is they are releasing remasters

fuck em, they force you to use the uplay launcher anyway

i suppose its a warning sign not to buy games that force you to use the producers server

ubisoft is one of those companies that has a history of doing this with games

it's not really surprising tbh
