Devs want to focus on the variety and variations of the gangs, weapons, cars, missions, activities, hideouts, etc.
instead, the publisher keeps focusing on nonesense no one cares about
"the South West postcard-esc vistas"
"the diversity"
"relatable teenage cast"
"become self-made"
none of those are Saints Row, and the devs KNOW it

and what will hurt the most, is their setting is VERY similar to Cyberpunks
and CP2077, for all its faults, looks damn good out in the desert
Saints Row 2022 does not
Saint's Row is one of my favorite franchises I think

SR3, back in 2011 was such a fun game
SR2 with mods is great too, don't get me wrong
and SR2 had way better story/characters
but 3 was just so much fun, especially at the start
Gat out of Hell was fun in a silly sory of way
and ended with resetting the world, so they could reboot the franchise
in a meta sort of way that Rob would have liked
but then Volition made Agents of Mayhem which bombed
and I think the SR3 remake kept the studio alive
which I guess makes sense for why this is in that engine
despite it being a shit engine
