patents.google.combecause apparently that was a patented idea
The Patent office in the US has stated they will approve patents for anything, and leave it up to the courts to decide if they're enforceable or not
Courts (mostly the fault of juries) see a legal patent document and just take it as law
it's a broken system
they don't know or care
also a lot of patents or ip lawsuits are purposefully super vague/ broadly defined
or at least the lawsuits I've heard of
if you're tapped to serve on a jury, no one tells you you're empowered to decide "that law is bullshit" and rule however you want
and the times where that does happen, the media will then call you idiots with no respect for the law or label you dangerous terrorists
so when you see a legal document, and both sides basically agree that they violated what the document says, you're railroaded into a "don't rock the boat" verdict
and yeah, patents get more and more vague over time
There's a lot a things people don't know they can do on a jury. Those that do tend to get weeded out
the easiest way to get out of jury duty is to mention that you do know
they will get rid of you fast
same
Gearbox got bought by THQ Nordic
For 1 Billion dollars
This is making the Minecraft purchase look like more and more of a steal in hindsight
the hell does thq nordic even do anymore
They own a bunch of mid-tier studios
A lot actually
Well I really don't like modern gearbox so, I hope they don't fuck up anything that's good
Someone on reddit had this good write-up, it's better than the wikipedia article
