should just make absolutely all aspects of character creation be completely ignored, half the writing effort needed and pass it off as just being progressive
Unless your game is based around torture porn like in Tomb Raider
then having a girl as your main character makes sense

and if you haven't played/seen the new games, a large portion of time is spent grievously injuring the MC to make you sympathetic/invested in the game
