The only thing I wish dark souls did better, was incentivizing you to play with rigid handicaps

they wort of did it with online matchmaking

try Dynasty Warriors games, they are easy and fun

but I'd love a more formal nuzlock-style mode, or at least some achievements or something

and when you try the hard difficulties they are hard and fun

once you learn how the combat works it becomes a lot easier

I suppose there is ng+ where you can make it even harder though

is what I would consider hard

I can't remember the last NG+ that I liked

once you learn them it's not that hard

the "hard" part of that fight is forcing yourself to not overcomit

And NG+ is mostly just for optimizing your build, it doesn’t have much to offer difficulty-wise besides a flat stat increase for enemies

The premise to BotW already felt pretty contrived, but it allowed for cool stuff to happen for that game
