This is the profitability of Subnautica 2
as they sell more copies, the publisher is leveraged to lose a maximum of $150M
This assumes full-price sales, so it would be a minimum of 12M copies needed to return a profit
yeah that purple line is the lifetime sales of the original
yellow-orange line was the sequel
Subnautica 2 is technically the 3rd game
And this does not include that they spent $500M to buy the developer and spent (Spooky estimate) $150M to develop the game
It's a little murky, I think the last subnautica game (BZ) probably just barely broke even
so they probably made ~$50M profit since acquiring the studio in 2021 from latent sales of the 1st game + BZ

Mixtape is a good walking sim thing I think
idk what it qualifies as
it reminds me of Limbo/Inside sorta
where it's just a bunch of scenes, and not really a game or even really about anything
yeah I'm not sure either, I was also surprised that it's not even overpriced or anything
I was expecting it to be some pretentious $40, stick-up-its-ass monologue sorta thing
I think some people just saw it getting 10s from every games journo so it joined to culture war
it's definitely made for elder millennials, but I actually think it's probably a 4/5 game
with the caveat it's not a game
