store.steampowered.comTime to buy everyone this for Christmas kappa
62 hours in
I have reached the Crimson Desert
uh, it's pretty fucking red
idk
how red is crimson
I do kind of want to go back and finish dd2 at some point
my hope for their to be DLC has pretty much died
that was originally going to be what would have gotten me to start again
wait, this is just the Twilight Princess Desert
Korea has robbed Japan's idea jar again
I think we also need to remember how BAD a lot of early 2000s 3rd person action games were though
not everything should become a soulslike
and honestly DS1 soulslike combat is completely different from ds2, bloodborne, Elden ring, etc.
Replying to Spooky Phijkchu #spooky.131 I think we also need to remember how BAD a lot of early 2000s 3rd person action games were though
i think a lot of them in a way had their merit though
but I just don't like that every game bakes combat rolls into everything, which I blame DS2+ for
before DS, combat rolling was a joke
idk, maybe it was just because it was pre-meme
but DS1, everyone played shield or parry builds
and it wasn't until DS2 I remember people starting to click with modern soulslike combat
and after then, the idea you'd play without rolling was insane
not glazing dragons dogma but just using it as an example, only one class has a dodge roll and it fucking sucks, melee classes you just tank and strafe a bit and you have the hp to take the hits
strider/assassin you use the shitty dodge roll or your movement to jump and leap around everything ((or climb on the boss))
and casters run around from afar casting
sekiro is technically the same "press 1 button to avoid damage" but it at least feels different because instead of taking control away from your character and disengaging you you stay intwined in the flow
I think all modern 3rd person combat systems we get now are one of:
dodge spam - Soulslike systems
cinematic attack spam - Spectacle fighters, muso games, and stuff like Batman
flashy parry systems - Sekiro, etc.
ik there are a couple others that fall into that
where it's fast and is more rhythm based
