there was a story recently about Arc, which revealed their internal target was 4M sales Y1, they're on track for ~20M
and I'm just left thinking if a AA game like that needs to sell 4M copies (even though in this case they did)
what hope do any games have anymore
yeah we did, whole industry is going to crash massively
GTA keeps delaying, the vague notion is the massive crash is after it drops
I hate $/hour equations for entertainment, it doesn't really say anything
you can find effectively infinite rations anywhere if you look for them
I think its useful if the game is too fucking expensive for what you are getting, but thats talking extremes of a 1 hour game costing 60 dollars
for most games, it is a meaningless thing to discuss
though tbh
the one that irks me more
is the "for the price of X lunches, or X cups of coffee"
like... yes,.. you can in fact relate things that cost money
I think most people have a vague notion of what ranges most games should cost, and none of them are in that range
None* occassionaly a dev sells their game for a fair price
I think a lot of big ticket games being dogshit is the fault of that
the number of virtually identical games too
You can literally play toushin toshi 2 released in the modern era right now via a fan homage...
you can't make that joke Gent, you're not in the Steam family
$70 for Mario tennis
what a deal
The point of the collapse is they need to realize having 100+ person teams on one game for every single fucking gain is not sustainable
where 90% of the cost is ballooning inefficiency and corperate burocracy
Most games should not have the teamsizes or even within the same order of magnitude of the cost
games being retarded prices, lead to people only buying games on sale, which then just further devalues prices
excluding the absolutely biggest of big games
anyway, next Phijkchu game should be $99.99 on launch

We've teamed up with @hololive_En and @hololive_Id for the Future Games Show on March 12. Tune in with your fave VTubers as they react live to the show on their channels!
I have legitimately only seen clips of 3 of these
and I only recognize half from hololive vampire survivors
that is one of the 3

Sega's "Super Game" has been one of the industry's biggest mysteries for the past few years, and it's supposed to be launching next month.

"Were making stardew valley" is where they should have stopped what they were doing
Replying to TinyBomby #tinybomby I feel like it's absolutely insane to just come right out and say "Yeah, we're just making this other game"
I like the rare few devs who do inspiration pie charts
But you need MINIMUM 5 things on them
And they can't all just be games
