I played a bit of tri force heroes actually. It was pretty awful with randoms online.

Gonna have to bring tri force heros with me to the meetup so I can finish it

I played the non botw/totk zelda one, and both FE ones

I liked the first one I played

and then you can never enjoy one after that

they are fine, they are braindead games

The original FE Warriors is the only game someone has bought for me I've never played

that is all they are

I just don't know how you translate that into an interesting full game

after you spend a few hours fucking around enjoying one the first time

its a game of routing for the challenge stages

FE warriors was good, but i feel like the warriors/musou games might benefit from having more reliable allies and being able to set up your own battleplans on larger maps and such

mix it with some RTS elements maybe

Honestly, maybe making it a map game where you can zoom in and do warriors pvp battles or something

would make it less braindead

or maybe make it so you have to plan it out before the fight and can't change it afterwards, or swapping character between fronts

all at once

you know, some actual complexity

you do have some control over ally units in hyrule warriors, but i cant remember how much

it only goes as far as telling them to go to a specific location

you can do it in FE warriors too iirc

they dont accomplish anything though except stopping a fort from getting capped for a couple extra minutes

they will still die

The problem is the AI is braindead, so it is actually just faster to rush over and do something yourself

even if its across the map

they hold out then you bring your broken fairy that can instantly heal a fort in one button press

ally AI is specifically designed to be braindead and named characters will legitimately die to nameless mobs

you tell the ally to go there so you can swap to them when they are there

My issue with musou games is that I don't like how the combat feels so floaty.

which is a big problem of the genre

I wish they wer more intentional, you don't have to have flashy games feels floaty or empty

I'm not saying soulslike combat11!!! but like DMC or Nier-like combat in a musou game

would be fun

just like... classic Action RPGs

but musou games you end up jsut button mashing and seeing enemies floatily get hit

they could keep the flashy screen wiping movesets but have another moveset you swap to that is better at fighting single targets like boss enemies

that is more like that

They could just make it combo focused, so that you have to combo correctly and properly without getting hit to maintain bigger aoes and flashing damage as you build a gauge or something With specials you use when youre getting overwhelemed or on boss targets

There is also just objectively broken ways to play those games

innovation hard

certain attack combos that are always better

so it usually is just doing the same thing over and over again
