Pathalogic L
I wonder how GDQ is doing
I can still tell with Pathologic 3 the dev wanted to be more ambitious and once again reigned himself in
I also sorta think re-doing the same (but different!) story again is kinda missing the point
For as much as I love Pathologic, I almost don't think it warrants the treatment it gets
A crazy Russian dude wrote a story in 2005 that can only really be enjoyed as a game
It's a much better way to do what he wanted
I think the story is better told this time too
the cool new mechanical re:zero layer is like one or two steps short of that WOAH feeling that would make it all worth it
and I can tell that's what he was going for, before he scaled it back
it's just not.... idk how to say it other than it's still feels like he's leaning into trying to make parts of the game scuffed
when 20 years later I feel like if he's still telling this same story it should be a at some sort of AA game level at least
it's part of the charm when it's an HD remake of a 2005 PC game coded in a Russian cave
and yeah, I feel like this sorta cements that he's doing a Path 4
it's a REALLY REALLY cool game
but uh, I just wish it felt more like the final version of this story, rather than Draft 7 of this ship of Theseus

ok hear me out we get pathologic 4 which is some weird ass game
then we get pathologic 5
which is a remake of the first game, so it comes with all 3 routes bundled into a single game with 10x gimmicks
