If there's something we're sleeping on, I'm down to get copies for people for Christmas or w/e
But I feel like most co-op stuff has gone to 2 or 3 player shit which kinda defeats the point
(and I'm vetoing Vintage Story, before somebody asks)

Had that been given out last year it would have been slightly more exciting, since it would have been at least semi-recent slop and some older MP ganes

Well, I doubt I am completing any more games this year. Chibi Robo was soulful by dragged on a bit too long. I think it would have not felt that way if you maybe walked a little faster though
Its interesting
I would not put it anywhere near my favourite game though

Hytale is Skipping Steam Initially to Avoid Negative Reviews, Console Launch Planned Hytale will not launch on Steam in January, Hypixel Studios has confirmed, as the developers aim to avoid negative reviews during early access.
lmfao
genius
I think they should have a clause though. If you are in early access for too long, they still count
or, just rank reviews based on the age of the review so more recent reviews are treated better
I don't disagree I suppose
I do think its funny to release at all on consoles if you are not confident enough to release on steam
just release it as a stand alone alpha until you are confident or something
I think it is a funny thing to point at, even if the reason they are doing it is valid
I think a more fair approach is to have some sliding window of the last 100,000 reviews
and change recent to be the last 1,000 reviews
you'd probably have to scale both in relation to the total # of sales/reviews or w/e
but idk how else to make it fair so that devs can't just wipe their rep right after a bad update
launch reviews are meaningless most of the time anyway, so them falling off in favor of more recent real reviews is fine

Developer of New Postal Game Shuts Down Studio After Game Was Annou...
The studio behind the Postal franchise just announced that it will be publishing a brand new Postal game, to be developed by Goonswarm Games. Unfortunately, it even more recently announced it would be cancelling said game, due to accusations that Goonswarm had used generative AI in its development.
www.ign.comwait what
I assume this is just the postal devs taking the piss or something?
yes
tbh, I don't know why the goonswarm thing had any interest, it's not a real gamedev group or anything
they had a couple template games they put up on Steam, and probably just decided they were done bothering
ig getting fake canceled for AI is sorta funny

The Recettear localization guy killed himself
rip
They did a cool thing, in 2009 a depressoid and his friend from Something Awful were able to pitch Gabe into allowing them to publish on Steam
They have an argument to say they were the first indie publisher on Steam, and their success contributed weirdly a lot to other Indie publishers and Japanese localization efforts overall
Their proof-of-concept with Recettear set in motion a bizarre amount of shit on the JP side with fairly major IPs
And it sucks that the lead dude was never able to steady himself
He made a long blogpost in 2014 about trying to kill himself https://web.archive.org/web/20150326160141/https://www.carpefulgur.com/drakblog/?p=53
And never really recovered mentally
it actually got a fucking update
