I'm guesstimating $800-ish for the base model, and maybe $1k for the 2tb
they've said there are 4 SKUs
512 GB
512 GB w/ Steam controller
2TB
2TB w/ Steam controller
I don't think the high RAM prices are real, it feels like the covid toilet paper panic
Part of me wants to say it would be 700>, but i remember from the original Valve Index launch they were not selling the headset for too much of a net gain. I think they'd probably be willing to go low in an attempt to get more people on, especially those who might already have establish libraries on Playstation
I think they'll have some model that's $999, and (hope) that's the 2TB bundle with the controller
if it starts at $999 for the lower base one I'm going to be sad
If it starts at $999 it will flop until a price cut
900 CAD
thats my bet
I wonder when they'll ship globally
wasn't the Steam deck US-->Japan-->Europe--->Global
They should sell it at a cheaper price in Japan, but for no actual reason since its a US company
I think Canada may have gotten it when Japan did
I appreciate what the steam deck is conceptually, but I don't use my switch undocked, so why would I buy a handheld pc
As interested in the GabeCube as I am, the VR headset does pique my interest more
Vinny, what VR games would you even play
Idk off the top of my head, but VR has always interested me, and I know before I even buy any VR specific games I have a bunch of games that have VR stuff in addition to their normal versions
I don't see myself getting a Cube, but I really like what they're doing
I'd consider the cube, if only for the fact that even on the new computer I overload sometimes while playing and streaming at the same time, which fucks the video bad
It would have to be a really good price for me to actually do it tho
you might have an actual use case
since your current computer is a bit touch-and-go at times
wait no, you built that new one
nvm
Yeah no, it doesn’t happen often but I do struggle with a few games
On the new computer
And with that I could have one static set of settings and not have to adjust it or lower quality in game

the PS5 is what, $700
idk what I want, but I think they have a real shot to ship a lot of these at the right price
Steamdeck is ~$500

I do think valve will end up selling some 1st party panels
But I'm kinda just imagining it'll be the front 1
I also hope they bring back Nemu to do one
Since her art is still the peak of all Steam branding
Replying to Kribbles #kribbles1 I don't understand why I really enjoy this and I find people decorating their desktop to be tacky, but this is cool to me lol
Stickers make your computer go faster
It's just science
most likely
they would have probably been delisted had they announced earnings
