There's obviously no publisher that's infallible, but are there any publishing labels that you generally associate with quality when you see them?
indie, AA, AAA, whatever
We've had the discussion about Devolver a lot, where in the past them being attached to an indie game would say a lot about the quality to be expected (and TinyBuild would imply the opposite)
now neither carries almost any weight of expectations
If Annapurna was more selective, I think they'd be an easy answer
but since their weird psuedo hostile takeover thing in 2023/2024, they publish a lot more stuff
3-4/year on average, to 10+
The only one I could think of currently, is Hooded Horse
though they have a certain niche of game they look to publish in the first place
Publisher is difficult
I'd say no
especially since devolver imploded itself
I think the age of indie publishers is dead, any good indie game is basically self done or the publisher is not the thing selling the game
Like, Balatro has apublisher, like hell I remember what they are
Raw Fury, TinyBuild, Team17, and Devolver are the 4 I associate negatively now
Speaking of indie publishers, if people want a shitter publisher direct to watch tomorrow https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_X_E3HybJA
Top Hat Studios Presents: The Tokyo Game Show Fall Showcase 2025
www.youtube.com
remember, actual E3 is on Wednesday
Is it
that's when the Tokyo Game Show stream is
the big thing going on
That makes sense
I only know about the top hat studio one because the frogun devs keep spamming my steam news feed telling me they are showing their new game off more there
also patch notes for rusp since I am looking at my news feed
new characters but they are alts of existing characters
Oh Arc raiders comes out Oct 30th apparently
Oh its 60 dollars, yeah I am gonna pass
it is?
Its 58 CAD
Open beta starts October 17th
I'll see if it's fun or not
If its a free beta, I am down to mess around with it for free during the beta
yeah, it's open for everyone
I'm surprised it's $40-$60 tbh
felt like they should have learned from Marathon... not to do that
esp since The Finals (their other game) is f2p
We are getting so close to the minimums passing my graohics card
Specifically publishing companies
I did think of some others, but I stand with my original answer of Hooded Horse being the only publisher that seems to try to pick winners
Spooky you know what
I think the answer is you can pick of some porn game publishers that are the good ones
in terms of porn games
lol
Replying to Phijkchu_Pikachu #klombak I think the answer is you can pick of some porn game publishers that are the good ones
I sitll don't think so
True, but if they publish one winner that I like, then they are good
that is how it works
I think on a pure "if this publisher's name is attached to it, there is a 90+% chance the game is good", I think no
Bandai has done a good job lately, outside of their licensed tie-in shitter games
There are indie devs I will try whatever they make
yeah, that's why it's more interesting, because I do think post-crash
we're going to get more publishers like Dunky's Big Mode springing up
who actually try to pick winners again
I still can't believe Dunkey personally made animal well while his wife was getting fucked by a black man
Coffee Stain (for all my issues with them) are another good publisher
Chucklefish and Critical Reflex both have a very set style they publish, even moreso than Hooded Horse publishing only autism games
The only game I know from chucklefish was starbound
wait
was that them
same
it is
and yes Pika
