For context
this game needed to sell ~3 million copies to sustain itself, for the dev cycle and to get to the sequel, honestly probably closer to 4M based on his costs
game cost $2.5M/year to make + NREs (for a 2-3 year dev cycle)
for that game
Humble and Fanatical bundles were the only huge surges of post-launch sales ($30 base price killed them on Steam seasonal/passive sales)
