I remember a lot of people were upset that 64 was the updated version
It was removed because they always planned for it to be some weird limited time release for some reason
I liked 3-in-1, I bought it, and over a week (5 hours for 64, 2 days for sunshine, and like 5-6 days for galaxy) 100%'d it. Mario 64 being the shinso release only sucks for speedrunners

Year Merchandising is definitely the biggest part, I have a friend in JP and she goes to a lot of pop ups etc
Yeah, the people who play showdown are way more likely to be competative players
they are just the super minority of overall people who like pokemon
(since most people who like pokemon are not going to want to just do pokemon battles)
Pokemon is so huge taht even a minority subgroup is enough to make a successful indie game sales wise
catering just to that small group
I think the only thing people want from Pokemon is them to put the old games on nintendo online

Inevitable remakes forever
With the exception of gen 4 which was just fine and bare bones, and gen 3 where I still prefer the original, pokemon remakes on average have been some of the best games in the series
Gen 5 remake is probably the last one that has a chance of being good though, because after that we get to the era where I think every pokemon game has been bad
I did not like or finish gen 4 when I originally got it, I essentially 100%'d omega ruby, I really liked heart gold and fire red
I think heartgold is arguably one of the best pokemon games made
Last pokemon game I interacted with was not a pokemon game, it was a porn game
it was not good
There has been an official battle sim announced
It was overshadowed by ZA tho
It’s called pokemon champions
It’s likely not as freely editable as showdown but it’s got connectivity to home
And the mainline games have methods of pseudo editing your mons
It’s easier in scarlet and violet than any previous game to get a competitive ready pokemon (discounting the rampant hacking)
