I kickstarted the first one
it was frustratingly mid
I was semi-hopeful that the 2nd one would be better, but I can't get past their art change
and this is coming from a HUGE proponent of AI art's potential, they did it in the worst way possible
they had this huge art budget, an they chose to phone-in the story/character CGs of all things

For SRPGs/Fire Emblem games, there's a lot you could phone in if you nail that character art
mechanically, I'm assuming the game is just 1:1 what was in the first game, which was fine, but not anything beyond what I was expecting other than the classes being more fun than vanilla FE

they proclaim no AI art, but if i had to assume why they dumped the budget there its probably because anyone who actually trudged through the game praised the story/characters.
Polar, it's funny you said that, because I was scanning through their Steam page to find the AI section
since those are required now
I'm wondering if their page pre-dated that requirement being added
because their art is AI, 100%, if they want to claim plausible deniability because they contracted it out
then that's even funnier
and ok, even if I say it's not, because I don't really care about the "AI" part of that
they changed the artstyle to something MUCH cheaper, that looks significantly worse
the spritework is 10/10 still
idk, I'm just kind of sad there aren't more indie devs trying for make a real unique SPRG

I really hate SRPG Studio games. I get it if you're not good at making games, like with RPG Maker, but gosh I just feel like it looks ugly and controls poorly.
I had the same issue with Vestaria Saga, which is why I sadly never finished it.

yeah the pure SRPG makerism of Vestaria Saga are ROUGH
those are the guys who made the engine right
yep, though idk what their roadmap is for the engine now
they released a Vestaria Saga 2 a couple years ago, that had some improvements
but idk if they're sticking with it, or just keeping it on backburner life support
I actually own it, you can do a lot with it but after a certain point you just might as well be making your own game system instead
The Tactics Ogre remake is the only other recent SRPG I can think of
well
