I am not scrolling up to read any of this, but most americans do tend to struggle with any election system that is not their own

i will not admit to know other germanys election system but from how i understood it hitler lost -> got set up as chancellor still despite losing presidency ->got himself unlimited power via chancellor positon -> used that power to help the nazis slowly gained influence -> did well in 1933 election for seats -> president died -> hitler implements himself as fuhrer merging his postion with president (no election)

i could be wrong but that is how i understood it went down

our election system was made without political parties in mind so the concept of coalitions never comes up

German elections in that year was a mess because the NSDAP and the Communist party kept getting voted into government and disagreeing or outright fighting

but in the end the NSDAP won
