Apparently, according to wikipedia, it goes infant -> toddler -> child -> preadolescent -> adolescent
I have never heard anyone use preadolescent
age ranges are 0 -> 1-3 -> 4-7 -> 8-12 -> 13+
preadolescent is considered from 8-12
so more than just preteen
colloquially, you would just say child for anything before like 16, and you can specify toddler or infant if you would like
but child is usually just a catch all
