I think games that are not online multiplayer servers, but not singleplayer at all kind of have to do this or else fuck them

yep, and tbh the reason for them to host the servers rather than just making them be self-host is marketing

the trivial cost for server infra is just a part of marketing

TTS is more compelling overall, sure but reduce the barrier to entry and I think people would buy standalones

TTS covers most casual cases

I think a TTS that is more fine tuned for the DnD autists but is similar to TTS is the only thing that could be made that also sells in a similar way as TTS

Single boardgames are almost never worth it unless they radically revamp the game to be more of a computer game

I think bomber in lab is a generally accepted thing

basically

this is a game about capturing things

you build infantry to capture that

and you build APC to move your infantry around

everything else is for fighting

the matchup chart is like this

infantry < everything but other infantry mech > ground vehicles, less so for the big ones artillery, rocket are long range units with a minimum range but high effectiveness against enemies at range missile, anti-air exist to rape air units tank < medtank < neotank battlecopter > tank, medtank fighter exists to rape other air units bomber exists to rape land units
