Dark Deity is pretty bad, unless you just really want to try all the Fire Emblem clone engines

the xcom Aliens™️ game is still probably the best 3rd party one
Xenonauts 2 ruined the best parts of xenonauts 1 (and took 7 years to make for some reason)

If you just want FireEmblem clones, honestly go look at SRPG maker games on itch, a lot of people make decent free ones
Dark Deity is fine enough, Wargroove is fine enough
The less Fire-Emblemy turn-based-tactics games like Quasimorph are super interesting imo

I have a friend who loved DD1 but refuses to buy DD2 because it went EPIC exclusive for the one year
it's also just bad
that's a better reason
I was going to play dark deity but I heard it was bad so I didn't
all the games that went epic exclusive (with 1-2 exceptions) were either bad or borring
If something limit time/fully goes EGS only, I refuse to play it
