ok, that is fair
the number of times some archaic tool, that's just uploaded to an old forum, saves my ass
is very high
the issue I have is, there are ways to centrally archive stuff like this, (or just keep hosting the forum read-only
but people seem only interested in making their own backup cluster hoard

Discord is fucking terrible for public things
you have to have way too much structure to make a discord usable, which then makes it not a discord
because basic things like capturing and moving posts between channels, or having archive threads that are able to be used
is just not there

are the gold standard

I'm ok with media wikis too, but people ahve forgotten how to use talk pages
because wikipedia is shit now

I said the same thing when the poast guy was whining about not getting donations
it's not materially expensive to serve the bandwidth necessary for a site like this, and if $200/year or whatever the grand sum of costs are to him is unsustainable, I don't know why he doesn't jsut pass it off to someone interested in the scene

it reads like he's sad that he's 30-something y/o now and just wants an out
