I really dislike D2, but I know some people have a hard on for it still

I played D2 when I was young, Act 1 was fun. After that my interest in it and the fun of the gameplay dropped. Would usually stop playing in Act 2, like twice, maybe trice in Act 3, and pushed through to hell once.
reminder, it's an open beta next weekend, this weekend is just the KFC exclusive one

I have a lot of thoughts on D4
I have zero idea how this game is going to be received, or what Blizzards vision is for the game
The only thing I feel confident saying rn, is the game is massive
the game should also be F2P, this game is what I think a PC-focused "Diablo:Immoral" should have been
what do we call this genre, action-RPGs?
I think this genre as a whole just needs to accept that F2P is the only way to get new people into the game
the core game design feels very nostalgic, but the social systems are all over the place
This game so desperately wants local/private servers to still exist
the whole setup of a semi-instanced world is FUN
but it's fun that really only exists if you're playing on a giant private server
and you can only reliably get that many people to buy a $70 game, if it's F2P
D3 was the top-selling game of all time when it came out, and I think D4 will be lucky to sell 1/10 of that
because the landscape has just totally changed
I think it's a great game held back by its genre and Blizz being too slow for their own good

They put a notice up that the beta is a "work in progress"
I should have cropped that better
putting it up as a maintenance notice just made me laugh
and let's be honest, the "beta" is the final game
ain't nothing changing between now and release
