It's retard proof
It's real, the game is full of these.
At time, they're helpful and can assist you greatly when puzzles or mechanics are not well spelt out. The issue arises from the fact that they don't give you ample time to experiment in all scenarios. Some puzzles are set up correctly where the NPCs will wait for you to spend a certain amount of time, others they just tell you right away.

If it's cranked up on the very easy game journo difficulty, I can kind of understand it
But the prompting in-the-middle of puzzle solving is just insane to me

it's because when he reads his brain is constantly checking the sentence against his embedded dictionary and grammar structure to make sure it isn't incorrect
