I read the book Dignity: https://www.amazon.com/Dignity-Seeking-Respect-Back-America/dp/0525534733 It's a brutal book about the towns in middle America that got completely destroyed by the east/west coasts once the factories and mills got off-shored to be a little cheaper.
Dignity: Seeking Respect in Back Row America

I editorialized it for sure, but that's the gist of what happens. He interviews hookers, homeless people, drug addicts, etc. in the worst of the worst places and asks general questions like what you want in life and what your plans are.

For another book, I read this a while ago. But Endurance was an absolutely amazing read: https://a.co/d/33xFgcp and my end goal in model kits is to build that ship
Endurance: Shackleton's Incredible Voyage by Basic Books

In August 1914, polar explorer Ernest Shackleton boarded the and set sail for Antarctica, where he planned to cross the last uncharted continent on foot. In January 1915, after battling its way through a thousand miles of pack ice and only a day's sail short of its destination, the became...

And right now I'm reading the short stories by Algernon Blackwood like The Willows and The Wendigo. I think those are the most popular short stories.
Algernon wrote a journal about him canoeing the Danube, which directly inspired The Willows. I think this was a fascinating read. It felt like a blog post but from 1900: https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/MacMillan%27s_Magazine/Down_the_Danube_in_a_Canadian_Canoe

Kribbles, this is not really a military history book, which I tend to not recommend (even though it's a lot of what I read) You might like https://www.worldofbooks.com/products/my-reminiscences-of-east-africa-book-paul-emil-von-lettow-vorbeck-9780857064189
My Reminiscences of East Africa

The legendary German general of the bush war in Africa For many the Great War means the Western Front, that gruelling, slogging stalemate of attrition that was the mud and blood of trench warfare. Yet this was truly a 'world war' fought between nations, many of whom were imperial powers with footholds, interests or col

Currently reading “There is no Antimemetics Division”, an SCP story that was turned into an independent book. It’s quite interesting so far. If you haven’t heard of SCP before I’d recommend that too, it’s a nice mix of silliness, sci fi and horror

That's funny, I heard about this from somewhere else recently and read all of the SCP stories. Didn't know it was an independant book. It was a very good read though.

All I know about SCP is it got overrun by weirdo's who use it for their gender euphoria or weird fetish shit
I feel it was a lot better in the in between period of not just guys from 4chan, but not whatever it is they are today

I feel like I vaguely remembered hearing about it before too but I saw it in barnes and noble yesterday and picked it up because I remembered it was based on scp

Yeah, I still think some of the newer stuff is good too I just think changing old articles because the author ended up being like, transphobic or something is a little needless for something like that

Although there were also some deleted because they were pedophiles and I think that’s probably a good idea so, lol
ehhh unless the content itself is pedophiliac in nature, I still disagree with removing it
