why does what the manga do have any bearing on if you think the show is good
anime

I count that as a recap episode, most shows separate those out and being recap episodes
instead of being apart of the show itself
unless I am misunderstanding
did they literally just do a bit where they acted like tv announcers
Wasn’t recap, it was the va’s bullshitting in character about random shit like behind the scenes and like tv announcers
lmao
that is 100% apart of the anime then
and yes I judge it for that
if it was run as a normal episode
this is why long running shows like this are bad
It wasn’t considered part of the series by pierrot or any official source
And iirc it wasn’t run as a normal episode
then no, its not apart of the show
I am talking about the official episodes of the show
But by your own logic if it’s released with the show which it was originally it’s considered part of it
If they released it, as an episode, where they intended you to watch it
if its just some extra bullshit they did to skip a week, then its extra bullshit
Again though, we are getting away from the point
I think its completely fair to judge an anime for its episodes
pretending certain parts do not exist because they are not from the source is silly
conversely, you can praise a show for things that are not in the source that is done well
one of my favourite episodes in 86 is basically anime original, with only like 1 line being from the ln
I understand your point but I disagree
I forget are you a marvel fan vinny
Half assedly
so you hate the new spidermen movies right
I like Tom Holland as the character but the movies themselves are just ok
they are all not based on any source comic and infact, go counter to the character of spiderman
(or so I have heard)
(from nerds who really care)
actually most marvel movies are like that
I think its just silly that I cannot sit down, watch spiderman, and judge if it is a good film or not
The mcu pulls from several versions of the characters making them their own version
Are you skipping the filler parts of one piece
since they do not matter
Most likely
alright, we clearly do not share any semblance of similarity when it comes to what it means to watch something
I'm considering not skipping exclusively to say on the vlog I watched all of it
But really filler is meh to me
I am trying to gauge your position here on how you can hold something against a show when it is not apart of the source
so, fullmetal alchemist for example, can we not conclude that by your metric, the original and brotherhood are the same quality, since we ignore the anime original parts of the original
when making judgements
I don't hold things against an adaptation if it is not part of what is being adapted
same quality maybe minus things like animation quality
and what not
as a story, they are completely equal
Like the parts of '03 that are adapted in a lot of places stand above brotherhood
Cause they got lazy and assumed you watched '03 so they truncated it
so the show as a whole then, is better than brotherhood
since we ignore the anime original parts of the original
when judging it
Taking just the adapted parts into consideration brotherhood is better overall because it's a complete adaptation
This isn't to say I didn't enjoy '03, but as an adaptation brotherhood is better in my eyes
okay, its a better adapatation
but that says nothing about its quality as a show
I don't care about the source at all
I think you can point to parts of a show, talk about what you like/don't like about them, and conclude if they are good, without even needing to know the source material
So excluding parts of the show from judgement arbitrarily because some other media did not include them
is silly
The only example I can give is index since I am reading the ln for that. I think a lot of the arcs in index 1 are bad adaptations
they completely change what happens
I also think that the changes are for the better
and the ln is worse in those parts
It's not arbitrary though, due to it being an adaptation of someone else's work
but it is also its own work
it is using a base story
but there is always changes
and you can judge the thing that is adapted without considering the original
at all
let me put it another way. Is it possible for something to be good, but be a poor adaptation
like, 10/10 show, but it barely even follows the source at all
Not really sure to be honest
I think inherently yes, since anything you do not read the source on that you like, could very well be that
without you knowing
its not like following a source rigidly is sufficient or necessary for a show being good
