there's no other genre where you can write a story out of being in that genre as easily as you can an "isekai" just by defining the nature of the world change to be slightly different

sure, but if you call goblin slayer a native isekai, that tells me literally nothing

instead, that should change something from a pure isekai into a native isekai

other than maybe it has something to do with him being in a different world maybe idk

the whole engaging part of the genre to me, is having a character exposed to a world they are unaccustomed to

and then the complexities of that world often directly correlate to how interesting the isekai is

I think it's an incomplete definition

I could definitely workshop the wording a bit

but that to me is the core feeling of an isekai

because I don't think a genre can exist based on plot elements, it needs to FEEL like that genre
