I don't know how so many were able to predict that there would be a cliff-hanger. Yeah I'm not an anime only, but I don't go about refreshing my knowledge once the anime gets announced.
It's not like 3 episodes isn't plenty of time to have a story arc.
They could have always skipped wolf-boy's insecurities.
I feel like instead of being 13 episodes, the season should have been 11 episodes and ended just before the second trial
it is just such an awkward cliffhanger if there is not an immediate second second coming in the fall

I remember I used to think the original Spice and Wolf anime was deep for ending where it did. And how it wasn't about the destination but the journey, and there was never any guarantee that they'll get to whatchamacallit-land.
This was before I learnt about the concepts of "They ran out of material to adapt" and "they were too lazy to make a season 3"
